Chemistry: Week 18
Week 18 in the Ron Paul Curriculum Chemistry course was all about Structural Formulas. All four lessons were spent learning about and writing out structural formulas, and I must say it is quite fun when you have gotten so good at writing it all out without help or reference. Lesson one of week 18 started … Continue reading Chemistry: Week 18
Chemistry: Week 17
This week of the Chemistry course from the Ron Paul Curriculum covered a lot of concepts, mainly focusing on covalent bond formations, hydrogen, coordinate covalent bonds, multiple chemical bonds, and structural formula. Lesson number one started off describing covalent bonds. Unlike ionic bonds, covalent bonds share valence electrons instead of transferring them. We quickly reviewed … Continue reading Chemistry: Week 17
Chemistry: Week 16
This week focused mainly on ionic bonds, ionic compounds, anions, and cations. The first lesson gave an intro to ionic bonds, which is a chemical bond formed by electrostatic attraction between positive and negative ions. There were examples given on how to write out the Lewis Dot Symbols for elements that were transferring valence electrons … Continue reading Chemistry: Week 16
Introduction to my Chemistry Course
For the last few months I have been working through four grade 12 courses in the Ron Paul Curriculum, English 4: American literature, Economics, Physics, and Chemistry. As part of my weekly assignments for English and Economics I write an essay on the topic I covered that week, but for Physics and Chemistry I don't. … Continue reading Introduction to my Chemistry Course
