Write your Money

English: Lesson 70

If you wanted to make money by writing a self-improvement book for Americans, what topic would you choose?

If there is one thing that I have learned from reading documents from the 18th century by the authors Cotton Mather, Jonathan Edwards, Benjamin Franklin, and Thomas Paine, it is that all these men wrote their way to success. It did not matter what subject they focused on, whether it was religion or politics, the public grabbed at every piece they published. And that proves to me that writing is money, and writing well is gold, so what better topic would there be for a self-improvement book than learn to write. Someone might argue that most of these authors were obviously geniuses and someone like me could never gain the success they achieved. That is true, Benjamin Franklin was a genius and was brilliant at appealing to all classes and people, as well as writing Poor Richard, proving he was also funny. But, I do not think it is absolutely necessary to write a book that gains huge success to make money. There are simple ways that writing well can improve a person’s life.

The first thing that comes to mind is a resume. Everyone applies for a job at some point in their life, and they will ultimately have to write a resume and cover letter. A resume reflects who you are as a person, your character, personality, and if you even care about the position you are applying for. Out of the 10, 20, even 100 resumes that are submitted, you have to find a way to make yours stand out. A well-written resume will stand out. It can’t be too long, but you want to put as much information about yourself in it as you can without stuffing it. If you get that job, you get the money, and it is all because you knew how to write a good resume.

The second way writing can improve your life and make money is by writing a blog. Someone’s experiences, life hacks, patterns, or recipes can be published and someone on the other side of the world will see it and find it valuable. You can even make money by writing short and funny captions for another person’s posts or pictures. If you can write well, capture the reader’s attention, and continue to improve your writing, it can start generating money. You don’t have to have a crazy job, live in a fancy place, or have an unusual lifestyle to have a successful blog. The amount of stay-at-home moms who make money from blogging proves that.

In conclusion, it does not matter how brilliant or interesting a person is, anyone who learns to write well will find success. A person’s words will become money because people will listen to a person who knows how to communicate well through words. Learning to write will improve all areas of your life and it is not limited by what age you are or where you are. Everyone will benefit.
